Oak Brook, Ill. Strong global same-store sales have yielded strong results for the companyâ€™s second quarter.
McDonaldâ€™s U.S. divisionâ€™s same-store sales were up 3.4% and operating income increased 6% for the quarter. In Europe, same-store sales increased 7.4% and operating income rose 29% (13% in constant currencies).
Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa also delivered strong results. Second-quarter same-store sales increased 8.8%, driving operating income up 37% (22% in constant currencies). Australia and China led the charge, along with broad-based strength throughout the segment.
The company credits the restaurantsâ€™ value, convenience and appealing product offerings for the overall positive results.
