Hasbro deal puts some giddy-up in toy sales

With the promise of mesmerizing merchandise, an exclusive assortment of My Little Pony products are receiving special toy department treatment at Target this week. The popular Hasbro property is based on a talking unicorn pony and her unique collection of friends, which has made “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” that airs on Hasbro-owned channel The Hub the number one television show for kids ages two through 11.

The merchandise in the line is inspired by the magical world of Canterlot from the hit television show and arrives in stores a month after the “Cars” franchise took over the toy department and got the multiple end-cap treatment.

“This summer, fans of the ‘My Little Pony Friendship is Magic’ television show, can embark on their own Canterlot adventure at Target,” said Stephanie Lucy, VP merchandising at Target. “We expect that Target’s exclusive merchandise will have My Little Pony followers mesmerized.”
