New York City Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. has been named the official outfitter for the 2008 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams at the summer games in Beijing, China, in August.

The apparel maker has designed the official opening and closing ceremony parade outfits for the U.S. teams, as well as other clothing items for the athletes. Related products will be for sale in June in Polo Ralph Lauren retail stores, some department stores and on its Web site, the company said.

Canadian-based Roots formerly held the 2008 Olympic contract.

The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be held Aug. 8 through Aug. 24.
