Indianapolis Mall owner Simon Property Group said Thursday that its business-to-consumer arm Simon Brand Ventures has teamed with shopkick to deliver a location-based shopping application to more than 100 Simon mall locations in time for the holiday shopping season.
The free shopkick mobile application downloads to consumers' smart phones. Participating retailers install a “shopkick Signal” technology, which alerts shoppers about sales and special offers as they enter the store. (When the "shopkick" app is open on the smart phone, it detects the technology as the consumer walks through the retailer’s door, and the shopper instantly receives rewards.)
In addition, shoppers who enter a participating store earn shopkick currency called "kickbucks" that can be redeemed for rewards or donated to charity.
The shopkick app will launch in September and begin rolling out in Simon malls.
