WAYNE, N.J. — Toys“R”Us announced that its Children’s Fund will make a $200,000 donation to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.

Through the Fund, Toys"R"Us said it will provide $100,000 to the national Red Cross organization for its disaster relief efforts in hard hit areas, including Delaware, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Virginia and multiple states across New England. Funding will be used to meet the immediate needs of children and families who have been displaced by the storm, or whose homes are without water or electricity.

The additional $100,000 will be allocated to the American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey, for its work with displaced and other affected families in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren counties. Separately, Toys“R”Us Inc. has provided funding to the Red Cross of Greater Somerset County in New Jersey for diapers and other essentials needed in local shelters.
