  • Report: Target issues guidelines for store janitors hired by outside vendors

    New York — Target Corp. is introducing a new policy by imposing new rules on the cleaning companies it hires to clean its stores in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Businessweek reported.

    Washington, D.C. — The National Retail Federation (NRF) presented its annual Ring of Excellence, Law Enforcement Retail Partnership and Retail Case of the Year awards during the NRF Loss Prevention Conference and Expo on Thursday, June 12.

  • Kroger recognized for disability hiring efforts

    Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has been named Employer of the Year by the Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities. The Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities fosters the employment of young people with disabilities.

  • Lululemon founder Wilson votes against reinstating directors

    Vancouver, Canada — Lululemon Athletica Inc. founder Chip Wilson announced that he voted against the re-election of Michael Casey and RoAnn Costin to the board of Lululemon Athletica. Wilson, who founded the company in 1998, had been living in Australia and was asked by the company to return and deal with a quality control issue that resulted in a product recall during 2013.

  • Papa John’s names former Boeing exec as new director

    Louisville, Ky. — Papa John’s International Inc. has appointed Laurette Koellner to the company’s board of directors. Koellner most recently served as executive chairman of International Lease Finance Corporation, a subsidiary of American International Group Inc. (“AIG”) from June 2012 until May 2014.

  • Former Saks CEO Sadove to lead new tech-focused division at Traub Associates

    New York — Steve Sadove, former chairman and CEO of Saks Inc., has asked consulting firm Marvin Traub Associates to launch a new division focused on  innovative technologies, concepts and platforms in the retail and consumer industries. Sadove is heading up the new Traub Accelerator division as co-founder, and will also advise Traub’s traditional clients and join the board of directors.

  • HSN promotes Martinez to HR head

    St. Petersburg, Fla. — HSN Inc. has promoted Maria Martinez to chief HR officer, effective immediately. In her new role, she will be responsible for providing leadership in executing human resources strategies in support of the company's business objectives.

    She will have specific responsibility for talent acquisition and assessment, succession planning, leadership development, employee engagement, performance management, total rewards, and wellness programs. She will continue to be based at the company's headquarters in St. Petersburg.

  • Abercrombie taps exec from U.K. retailer Next as brand president

    New Albany, Ohio — Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has named Christos Angelides president of its Abercrombie & Fitch and Abercrombie Kids brands, a position he is expected to take in October 2014. Angelides, 51, will report to A&F CEO Mike Jeffries and will have overall responsibility for all product and customer-facing activities for the Abercrombie & Fitch and Abercrombie Kids brands.  

    He will also be accountable for the financial performance of the brands.
