Las Vegas International Council of Shopping Centers has named the winners of its Best-of-the-Best Awards competition, which honor shopping center design and development, sustainability, marketing, and community service. The winners were announced at ICSC’s ReCon show in Las Vegas on Monday night.
Villach, Austria-based Atrio took home top prize in the sustainability category. “Without borders” is the theme of the shopping center, whose architecture addresses the motto of Austria, Italy and Slovenia’s cross-border Olympic bid. It is the first themed shopping center in Austria.
For design and development, Westfield San Francisco Centre, in San Francisco, Calif. took home top honors. Developed under a partnership between Forest City Development, The Westfield Group and Macy’s Inc., the newly renovated and expanded Westfield San Francisco Centre preserved one of the city’s most revered buildings, the former Emporium department store building.
In addition, Cirque Du Soleil At CentrO, Oberhausen, Oberhausen, Germany, was awarded for marketing excellence. Meanwhile, Albert Sussman International Community Support Award went to Simon Property Group for its outreach education programs.
