RANDOM NOTES: High-end beauty marketer shu uemura in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, Calif., was selected as Store of the Year in National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers’ (NASFM) 2007 retail design competition. The 900-sq.-ft. shop has an un cluttered , modern, elegant look, with a white monotone palette and a splash of color graphics. The Color Bar, a sculptural-quality display that is edged in continuous light and accented by a mirror bar, serves as the centerpiece of the carefully designed space. PERSONNEL UPDATES: Industry veteran Chuck Luckenbill has joined OfficeMax, Naperville, Ill., as VP, visual merchandising. Luckenbill most recently served as president of P.O.P. Store Fixtures, Philadelphia. He also spent time at Kohl’s Corp., where he was VP of visual merchandising.
NEW PROJECTS: PKN Orlen, Poland’s largest petroleum retailer, has selected the retail division of CBX (Colemanbrandworx), New York City, to develop a new convenience store concept that will be used in new locations and retrofits.
