Shelton, Conn. Tomra Pacific, a unit of Tomra of North America, a provider of advanced recycling solutions, announced that this week, it will open its first RePlanet recycling center in Tustin, Calif., on the grounds of the Albertson’s supermarket. The RePlanet kiosk will help consumers in the city -- a highly underserved market for recycling -- to gain clean, user-friendly access to beverage-container recycling and California Redemption Value cash.
The RePlanet center, a colorful kiosk that will sit in the supermarket’s parking lot, will house four bulk reverse vending machines that consumers can use to deposit their used glass, plastic and metal beverage containers. In return, consumers will receive vouchers to bring inside the Albertson’s store to redeem their CRV bottle deposits.
“A supermarket that provides recycling facilities not only improves its image in the community, it can also leverage the increased foot traffic to gain incremental sales and increase customer loyalty,” said Adrian White, VP business development at Tomra Pacific.
