Columbus, Ohio China continues to hold the No. 1 spot for countries with the best retail market opportunities, according to TNS Retail Forward’s recent “Global Retail Outlook” report.
Russia claimed the second slot this year, up from fourth in 2006. Meanwhile, India slipped from third to sixth this year. South Africa displaced Spain among the top 10 countries on the list.
The full list is as follows: China (1); Russia (2); India (3); United Kingdom (4); Malaysia (5); India (6); South Africa (7); Australia (8); Canada (9); and Japan (10).
The report said that trends and forecasts underlying the list suggest that inflation pressures are weighing down the pace of retail spending in many countries.
