  • Mid-America brokers sale of St. Louis center

    St. Louis — Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales team recently brokered the sale of the 112,300-sq.-ft. South Oaks Plaza located in St. Louis for $9.5 million to Phillips Edison-ARC Shopping Center REIT Inc. Shop’n Save, Walgreens and Michaels anchor the center.

  • OfficeMax unveils new store format in Chicago

    Naperville, Ill. — OfficeMax Inc. has opened a new Business Solutions Center store format in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood.

    The new 3,900-sq.-ft. concept store provides a portfolio of services and solutions including marketing support, website design, document, IT, cloud storage and shipping services. Merchandising includes an in-store online kiosk where products can be purchased and shipped directly to customers.

     

  • R.J. Brunelli announces three new clients

    Old Bridge, N.J. R.J. Brunelli & Co. has announced that it has been retained as exclusive real estate broker in several New Jersey counties for three fast casual chains: BurgerFi, Corner Bakery Café and Tommy’s Coal Fired Pizza. All three restaurants are seeking end-cap or freestanding pad locations with outdoor seating in lifestyle centers, power centers and other high-traffic locations, in areas offering high daytime and residential populations.

  • iPic Entertainment announces Delray Beach project

    New York -- iPic-Gold Class Entertainment has announced that it will develop a mixed-use entertainment, office and retail project in Delray Beach, Fla.

    Expected to open in 2015, the project includes a 529-seat eight-screen theater. iPic said the project would create more than 400 jobs and attract more than 400,000 visitors annually to downtown Delray Beach. The company currently operates nine theaters with 67 screens in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

     

  • Old Navy, GNC opening in Middletown, N.Y.

    Purchase, N.Y. — National Realty & Development Corp. www.nrdc.com has announced that Old Navy and GNC will open stores at Orange Plaza, an 815,000-sq.-ft. power center in Middletown, N.Y. Old Navy has taken 13,500 sq. ft. GNC will occupy 1,500 sq. ft.

    Wal-Mart Supercenter, The Home Depot, Kohl’s Department Store, Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond and Staples anchor the center, which draws from a 12-mile radius with a population of 157,000.
     

     

  • Report: American Dream Meadowlands mall close to signing big retailers

    New York -- American Dream Meadowlands, the much-delayed shopping and entertainment complex adjacent to Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., is close to signing several major retail tenants, according to Crain’s New York.

    The complex, originally called Xanadu, was started in 2004, and never completed. It has gone through several changes in ownerships, eventually falling into default. In July, it was acquired by Canadian developer Triple Five Group.

  • Subway reaches 40,000th location

    Milford, Conn. — Subway opened its 40,000th location at an AppleGreen petrol station in Ipswich, England. The company has opened 1,761 locations around the world since the start of 2013. The largest chain of sub shops in the world, Subway leads the next largest chain by more than 5,500 locations.

    The U.K. is the brand’s third largest market, behind the U.S. and Canada. There are 14,000 international locations in 102 countries outside the U.S.

     

  • Transwestern fills new tenant advisory post

    Houston — Transwestern has announced that Amber Strang has joined the firm as executive managing director of tenant advisory services. In her newly created role, Strang will pursue multi-market business and work to enhance client services. Strang will also serve on Transwestern’s board of directors and executive committee.

  • Nordstrom rolling out more Topshop, Topman departments; national ad campaign in works

    Seattle -- Nordstrom is expanding its partnership with Britain’s fashion-forward women’s apparel brand, Topshop, as well its men’s unit, Topman. Beginning in September, Nordstrom will add 28 Topshop departments and eight Topman departments in stores across the country.

    As part of the expansion, Nordstrom and Topshop will partner on a national campaign.
