  • Target opens C9 store in San Francisco

    New York -- Target Corp. opened a new retail concept, called C9 Active Apparel, in San Francisco, Women’s Wear Daily and other media outlets reported.

    The 3,000-sq.-ft. store is devoted to the C9 by Champion activewear brand, which was launched by Target in 2004. It is located in Westfield’s Metreon center, which also houses a CityTarget store.

    The new store has an industrial feel, with concrete flooring and exposed ceiling, according to the reports, with no Target identifying-logo or signage.

     

  • GGP and PepsiCo pilot interactive vending machines

    PepsiCo is rolling out its Pepsi Interactive Vending machine pilot program -- allowing consumers to buy, gift and play games with PepsiCo beverages – at five General Growth Properties’ malls.

    Columbiana Centre (Columbia, S.C.), Clackamas Town Center (Happy Valley, Ore.), Oglethorpe Mall (Savannah, Ga.), Oakwood Mall (Eau Claire, Wis.) and Park City Center (Lancaster, Pa.) will feature the interactive vending equipment with full touch-screen technology.

  • Intermix to open in Center City

    Philadelphia -- Fashion retailer Intermix has opened its 30th store at 1718 Walnut Street in Center City, Philadelphia, according to Metro Commercial, which negotiated the 3,386-sq.-ft. lease.

    The retailer will occupy space on the ground floor of the Rittenhouse Claridge, a landmark building owned by Kaiserman Co. Metro Commercial searched for the ideal location for Intermix for over two years.

     

  • Toys ‘R’ Us to open in-store holiday shops at Macy's

    Wayne, N.J. -- Toys “R” Us and Macy’s announced Wednesday that the pair will team on a Toys “R” Us Express-branded in-store program slated to open in 24 Macy’s stores during the holiday selling season.

    Beginning mid-October and running through mid-January, the holiday temp departments will operate on a leased basis, will average about 1,500 sq. ft. each and will offer an edited selection of the Toys “R” Us product assortment.

  • Inland Diversified acquires City Center at White Plains through JV

    White Plains, N.Y. -- Oak Brook, Ill.-based Inland Diversified Real Estate Trust announced the acquisition of a majority interest in City Center at White Plains, a four-story, 381,905-sq.-ft. mixed-use shopping center and apartment property in White Plains, N.Y.

    The property was acquired in a joint venture between a subsidiary of Inland Diversified and affiliates of real estate developer Cappelli Group. The joint venture valued the property at approximately $166.4 million.

  • New mixed-use project to deliver retail near major ballpark

    Washington, D.C. -- Grosvenor Americas and Skanska USA Commercial Development have announced plans for a mixed-use project of more than 650,000 sq. ft. directly north of the new Washington Nationals ballpark in the Capitol Riverfront district of Washington, DC.
         

  • MassageLuXe opens at Streets of St. Charles

    St. Charles, Mo. -- Peoria, Ill.-based Cullinan Properties said that MassageLuXe has opened at the Streets of St. Charles, a new mixed-use development in St. Charles, Mo.

    MassageLuXe joins Streets of St. Charles Dental and the first Five Guys Burgers & Fries location in St. Charles County. Opening soon are two full-service restaurants that are new to Metro St. Louis -- Tucanos Brazilian Grill and Prasino.

  • Walmart Canada to grand-open 30 stores in October

    Mississauga, Ontario -- Walmart Canada said Tuesday it will complete 30 real estate projects by the end of October, including two supercenter conversions and 28 new stores totaling 2.4 million sq. ft. of retail space.

    The new stores were former Zellers locations; 10 will be converted to supercenters and 18 will be Walmart Canada discount stores.

    “This is an exciting month for Walmart Canada,” said Jim Thompson, COO, Walmart Canada.

  • Sun & Ski to open in Woburn, Mass., in former West Marine space

    Burlington, Mass. -- KeyPoint Partners said Tuesday it has negotiated a lease with Sun & Ski Sports to occupy a 14,393-sq.-ft. space at 406 Washington Street in Woburn, Mass.

    The store will be situated on the upper level of the building which houses Hogan Tire & Auto Service Center.

    According to Sun & Ski parent Retail Concepts, a November 2012 opening is planned for this newest store, which is the chain’s thirtieth.
