The landmarked Puck Building in New York City’s SoHo is home to the Big Apple’s first REI store. The 35,000-sq.-ft. space has been handsomely and meticulously restored to honor the heritage of the nearly 75-year-old brand while also paying tribute to the building’s more than century-old history. Elements and materials original to the building, including printing tablets, chandeliers and steam-engine flywheels, have been refurbished and integrated into the store. Wood from the original construction was repurposed and used for various elements.
