Amazon taking checkout-free store concept to the U.K.

Amazon Go is moving across the pond.

The checkout-free convenience store format will open its first U.K. location this week, in Ealing, west London, reported The Daily Mail. Plans for another 30 Amazon Go stores in the U.K. have already been drawn up, according to the report.

Amazon Go opened to the public in the U.S. in January 2019, with a 1,800-sq.-ft. store in Seattle. In February 2020, Amazon debuted Amazon Go Grocery. The store uses the same Just Walk Out” cashierless technology as Amazon Go, but with a larger footprint and much wider product assortment.
