American Eagle, Finish Line accept Cash App Pay online

Cash App Pay
Cash App Pay is now accepted at enterprise retailers.

A number of enterprise retailers are now taking a newly-available form of mobile e-commerce payment.

American Eagle, Aerie, Tommy Hilfiger, Finish Line, and JD Sports are among the enterprise retail launch partners for Cash App Pay. Previously a mobile payment option for Square sellers offered by financial services app Cash App, Cash App Pay is now available as an e-commerce payment method across the retail industry.

The software integration between Cash App and retail partners provides customers a way to pay for online purchases using their Cash App balance or linked debit card. Cash App users can take advantage of offers and promotional sales through the in-app Discover Tab, which was recently brought to the main navigation menu to connect consumers to businesses.

Additionally, customers can shop directly on retailers’ websites and select Cash App Pay at checkout. Soon, Cash App says customers will be able to shop all participating brands through the Discover Tab or on retailer websites including Aerie, American Eagle, Finish Line, FragranceNet.com, JD Sports, Romwe, Savage x Fenty, Shein, thredUP, Tommy Hilfiger, and Wish.

“At Cash App, a core mission of ours is to make money more accessible and give our users more purchasing power,” said Jessica Bullitt, head of commerce product at Cash App. “We are thrilled to be partnering with a new cohort of merchants that we know our consumers will love.”

“Both Cash App and Finish Line share a commitment to putting customers first and providing them with a premier e-commerce experience,” said Arianne Parisi senior VP, chief digital officer of Finish Line. “Cash App Pay will help us reach young customers looking for seamless ways to pay. At Finish Line, we see this integration as an excellent tool to have on board as we continuously evolve and expand the ways to reach Gen Z and millennial audiences.”

Cash App is currently offering an automatically applied 10% off customers' first purchases at participating retailers, with additional discounts rolling out in the coming weeks. The company says many additional retailers have signed to join Cash App Pay in the coming months.

Survey: Mobile payments prove popular with young consumers

Millennial and Gen Z consumers are much more likely than their older peers to use mobile payment solutions, according to a survey of over 2,200 U.S. adults from Morning Consult, currently, 42% of respondents have used mobile wallet payments. This includes 9% who have used mobile wallet payments in-store, 17% online, and 13% both in-store and online.

However, the general figures represent a wide variance in mobile wallet usage by consumers of different generations. For example, only 21% of baby boomers (4% in-store, 13% online, 4% both) and 36% of Gen Xers (7% in-store, 18% online, 11% both) have used mobile wallets. These percentages rise much higher among millennials (53% - 13% in-store, 21% online, 20% both) and Gen Zers (62% - 16% in-store, 18% online, 28% both).
