7-Eleven continues to expand with two new acquisitions

Dallas — 7-Eleven Inc. announced two acquisitions that will further expand its U.S. store portfolio.

The company has closed deals with EZ Energy USA Inc. to purchase 67 retail locations in the Cleveland and Pittsburgh markets, and with its licensee, Handee Marts Inc., to acquire 58 7-Eleven convenience stores in those same markets as well as locations in northern West Virginia and western Maryland.

“These two acquisitions provide 7-Eleven with an excellent opportunity to have a strong presence immediately in both the Cleveland and Pittsburgh areas,” said Stan Reynolds, 7-Eleven, Inc.’s executive VP and CFO. “We also are interested in looking at other locations in these markets to further expand our presence there.”

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

EZ Energy USA is a great acquisition for 7-Eleven. This will definitely boost their hold of the US Market. They can really do well in the UK as well. If they want, they could actually enter the finance industry as well.. Maybe payday loans.. It's big in the UK too... Imagine if they can offer that service in their stores.. Will @ Swift Sterling

There are so many chain store
There are so many chain store alreaady now a days, wherever you go you can see 7-eleven, which is a great help for people. It just a convinient way to buy the stuff you like nearby. Having these convinient stores makes the bad people happy too. I have seen on you tube with most youtube views that a robber tries to steal some stuff inside the store, and it was seen on the CCTV with increase youtube view.

Grossman Development Group begins site work for Granite Ridge Marketplace

Boston — Grossman Development Group (GDG), a boutique real estate development firm led by Howard Grossman, announced that it has begun site work for the 330,000-sq.-ft. Granite Ridge Marketplace, a 57-acre shopping center development located in Rochester, N.H.

The development, which boasts a trade area of 198,000 people, will feature a mix of anchor retail, junior anchor retail, small stores, restaurants and entertainment. It is located on Route 11, the gateway to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and close to the Maine border.

Long-time media exec joins Dollar General board

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General has named Pat Fili-Krushel to its board of directors effective Oct. 15.

“We are excited to welcome Pat to the Dollar General board of directors,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Her expertise and experience in operations and strategic growth make her a great addition to our board. She has a strong track record as a transformational leader, and we look forward to benefiting from her perspectives as we continue to drive the execution of our business and create shareholder value.”

The election of Fili-Krushel to Dollar General’s board will bring the total number of directors to eight, and the total number of independent directors to four. Fili-Krushel will serve on the compensation, nominating and governance committee of Dollar General’s board. Dollar General plans to have a majority of independent directors on its board by April of 2013.

Fili-Krushel assumed the role of chairman of NBCUniversal News Group, a division of NBCUniversal Media, LLC, composed of NBC News, CNBC, MSNBC and the Weather Channel in July. She served previously as EVP NBCUniversal with a broad portfolio of functions reporting to her, including operations and technical services, business strategy, human resources and legal. Prior to NBCUniversal, Fili-Krushel was EVP administration at Time Warner Inc. from July 2001 to December 2010. Before joining Time Warner, Fili-Krushel had been CEO of WebMD Health since April 2000. From July 1998 to April 2000, Fili-Krushel was president of the ABC Television Network, and from 1993 to 1998 she served as president of ABC Daytime. Before joining ABC, she had been with Lifetime Television since 1988. Prior to Lifetime, Fili-Krushel held several positions with Home Box Office. Before joining HBO, Fili-Krushel worked for ABC Sports in various positions.
