Albertsons launches online community
Fullerton, Calif. Albertsons launched on Monday new online community, AlbertsonsWellbeing.com, to provide users with tools to help them make easy, value-driven choices for healthier living.
“We designed the Albertsons Wellbeing site to be a daily resource, where this community will enable each other to make food, cooking and healthy choices that are smart for themselves and their families,” said Stephanie Martin, Albertsons director of communications and public affairs.
The community will have discussion forums, wellbeing tips and recipes to help users discover accurate nutritional and supplement information. It will also allow users to contribute their own ideas and interact with other people who are interested in healthy living, including user-provided video and discussion boards.
Albertsons will hold a Twitter contest to kick off the site. From Jan. 15 to Jan. 31, users who visit AlbertsonsWellbeing.com and tweet the announcement listed there will be entered to win a $500 gift card.
Safeway launches effort to provide Haiti earthquake relief
PLEASANTON, Calif. Safeway announced that it has launched a companywide initiative to provide humanitarian relief for people impacted by the Haiti earthquake.
The Safeway Foundation will make an initial contribution of $100,000 to the American Red Cross and UNICEF, two organizations at the forefront of the earthquake disaster relief mission. The company’s stores throughout the U.S. and Canada will immediately begin collecting donations for Haiti Disaster Relief through a checkstand program. In addition, Safeway’s corporate offices and other non-store facilities will conduct employee fundraisers so the company’s entire work force can contribute to this effort.
“The people of Haiti are in need of clean water, safe shelter and the basic necessities of life. We know by experience that our customers will want to help in any way they can which will undoubtedly save lives and provide hope amid this tragedy,” said Safeway EVP, Larree Renda.
Food Network star launches cookware line for Target
MINNEAPOLIS Target is introducing an exclusive line of cookware from Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis. The Giada De Laurentiis for Target line will be available at all Target stores and Target.com starting this month.
“Our guests want kitchen gear that makes their daily cooking easier and more enjoyable, and Giada’s collection delivers,” said Kathee Tesija, EVP merchandising for Target. “We combined our design expertise with Giada’s culinary background to create a product collection that pairs utility with great design and affordability.”
Included in the collection are items such as a 4-qt. deep saute pan, 6-piece ceramic bakeware gift set and a versatile 2-block cutlery set. Food products include five pasta varieties, three types of pasta sauces, fresh pesto, light vinaigrettes and rich coffee blends. Small appliance offerings include a gourmet stainless steel panini grill, and the assortment also features favorite accessories, such as brightly colored aprons.
De Laurentiis’ versatile designs for Target will be accessible to a wide audience with prices ranging from $6.99 for a nylon spoon with stainless-steel handle, to $199.99 for a 10-piece Tri Ply Clad cookset that includes an 8″ and 9.5″ open saute pans, 1-qt., 2-qt., and 3-qt. sauce pans with lids, and 5-qt. Dutch oven with lid.
De Laurentiis will also serve as a spokesperson for the wide selection of affordable groceries at Target and SuperTarget stores.
