Best Buy appoints CEO search committee
Minneapolis — Best Buy Co. has announced the members of its CEO search committee. The company said the committee will oversee a global search process to identify internal and external candidates, including current interim CEO Mike Mikan.
As part of Best Buy’s commitment to transparency, the company said the board will also publicly announce the selected search firm and will post the position on the company website. The final search firm selection will be announced in the next few weeks.
Kathy J. Higgins Victor, who also serves as chairwoman of the nominating, corporate governance and public policy committee and a member of the compensation and human resources committee, will chair the search committee.
Ann Inc. launches program to donate fixtures and marketing items to charities
New York — Ann Inc., the parent company of Ann Taylor and Loft, announced the launch of AnnCares360, a program in partnership with Good360, a nonprofit leader in product philanthropy. The program will facilitate the donation of available displays, marketing items, and fixtures to local charities that support women and children.
AnnCares360 allows Ann Taylor, Loft, Ann Taylor Factory, and Loft Outlet stores to enter valued, reusable goods into a tracking system that will link to Good360’s online product donation marketplace and its network of more than 26,000 charities.

Each year, Ann has items in its stores and corporate offices that are available for donation across the country. The partnership with Good360 offers a uniform company-wide system, better tracking mechanisms, a wider reach, and a sustainable program for the future.

Six Stater Bros. stores receive EPA GreenChill Gold Award
San Bernardino, Calif. — In celebration of Earth Day, Stater Bros. said that six of the company’s newest supermarkets in California have earned the prestigious EPA GreenChill Gold Award for meeting tough environmental standards and using ozone-friendly refrigerants. The certifications are good for one year. Four of the locations also received GreenChill Gold Awards in 2011 (Grand Terrace, Moreno Valley, Cathedral City and Carlsbad).
Stater Bros. is the only Southern California grocer to have six stores that are certified at the Gold Level.
In 2009, Stater Bros. introduced a "Green Waste" composting program in all its supermarket locations to turn organic waste into compost that is sold to area farmers. The chain received a Waste Reduction Award in both 2011 and 2010 from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP).
