Best Buy Launches Automated Kiosks in Airports

BY CSA STAFF

Minneapolis Best Buy Co. Inc. plans to add a dozen automated vending kiosks inside major airports across the country as part of a new pilot program called “Best Buy Express,” company executives said.

The retailer is partnering with ZoomSystems, a San Francisco-based vending-machine company, for the project that will install the small automated stores at eight airports.

The machines will stock cell-phone and computer accessories, along with digital cameras, portable data-storage devices, headphones, travel adapters, electronic chargers and other gadgets.

The self-serve kiosks will be installed by Sept. 1 in airports in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and San Francisco.

“The launch of Best Buy Express is another way for Best Buy to provide consumers with the products they need from a brand they trust, even while they’re on the go,” said Chris Stidman, VP of strategic planning for Best Buy.

I saw the automated vending
I saw the automated vending kiosks when I went to Colorado for a a colorado ski vacation, I did not know how to use them so I asked a security guard to help me. It was a nice experience, hope we will find such kiosks in every airport.

I saw this news when I was looking for five interesting facts about Athens because I want to go there with my family the next month. My kids love automated vending kiosks and I am sure when we will fly to Greece they will notice the kiosks and ask me to buy something for them.

Costco posts mercury warning on seafood counters

BY CSA STAFF

WASHINGTON Costco has agreed to post the Food and Drug Administration mercury advice on signs at its seafood counters, ocean conservation group Oceana announced.

“Posting a sign that tells consumers which fish they should avoid would let them know that other fish are OK to eat, and allay any fears they may have,” said Simon Mahan, campaign manager for Oceana.  “In fact, some grocery stores that posted the FDA advice had no negative effect on their seafood sales and one company even reported that seafood sales increased after posting the signs,” he added.
