BJ’s taps RedPrarie to streamline transportation operations

Atlanta — RedPrarie Corp., a global supply chain and retail technology provider, announced that BJ’s Wholesale Club plans to use RedPrairie’s transportation management system to streamline its transportation operations and reduce costs. The solution is designed to enable wholesale clubs and retailers to improve operational efficiencies by automating transportation tasks and optimizing the planning of shipments. BJ’s Wholesale Club will be able to better monitor carrier performance and shipment activities throughout the supply chain.

“We look forward to a continued effort with RedPrairie to improve the management of our transportation,” said Trevor LaChapelle, VP, manager of global transportation at BJ’s Wholesale Club, which operates more than 190 locations. “Their TMS (transportation management system) offers us a scalable and flexible solution to support our on-going needs.”

Forest City launches enhanced websites for 15 retail centers

Cleveland — Forest City Commercial Management today announced the launch of 15 redesigned retail center websites. The new sites feature enhanced interactive shopping, social media experiences and content from PlaceWise Media’s Shoptopia.

The new multimedia websites extend the shopping experience beyond the physical walls of the retail center and allow shoppers to interact with Forest City properties and tenants before, during and after their visit to the center. Shoppers are able to sign up in a one profile process with their preferences on how on they would like to receive communication (E-club, Mobile Club, Facebook, Twitter). The sites are also integrated with the Shoptopia Network, developed by PlaceWise Media in collaboration with Forest City, as the largest digital network to connect shoppers with malls, retailers and brands.

The sites have been designed as one source for up-to-the-minute information on all stores and brands. Feature articles on the latest trends in fashion, home and seasonal ideas written by well-known industry experts create an endless wealth of lifestyle and fashion information.

TownShoes selects PeopleAnswers to improve employee recruiting process

Dallas — PeopleAnswers and Canada-based Town Shoes, which sells under Town Shoes and The Shoe Company, announced a software licensing agreement for the retailer to use the PeopleAnswers’ human-relations solution in its 124 stores across Canada for pre-employment screening and employee selection.

“As a growing retailer in a very competitive industry, it’s critical to have a standard – and efficient – hiring process across all of our stores to improve the quality of our hires and maintain our unique store brands,” said Yvonne Faulkner, VP sales and operations, Town Shoes.

Town Shoes will use the PeopleAnswers assessment test to prescreen and hire manager and associate job candidates who share many of the same behavioral traits with its current strong performers. With candidates taking the assessment test, Town Shoes expects to see higher employee retention and sales. Hiring managers will also use PeopleAnswers as a guide for interview content and employee development.
