Buffalo Exchange to debut in Boston

Boston Buy-sell-trade clothier Buffalo Exchange said Tuesday it will open its first New England store on Oct. 3, in the Boston suburb of Somerville.

With a 2,780-sq.-ft. sales floor, the store will open with inventory from Buffalo Exchange stores in New York City, Southern California, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Austin, Texas.

Buffalo Exchange has three other East Coast locations, two in New York City and one in Philadelphia. The store features clothing and accessories that are bought, sold and traded directly with store customers. Used clothes can be traded for any item in the store, including jewelry and brand new clothing.

Saks celebrates fashion’s night out

NEW YORK, N.Y. Saks Fifth Avenue celebrated Fashion’s Night Out, a global initiative supporting the fashion and retail industry, at their New York flagship on Thursday.

50 designers made appearances in the Fifth Avenue flagship, including Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Elie Tahari, Bobbi Brown and William Rast’s Trace Ayala and Justin Timberlake. Customers were able to shop for fall looks while receiving over 7,000 cosmetic giveaways, mini-makeovers and styling advice. The store sold out of the evening’s Fashion’s Night Out t-shirts that benefit National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center.

Other notable mentions of the evening include: Trace Ayala and Justin Timberlake celebrated their William Rast pop up shop, Donna Karan inaugurated her new shop on the second floor, magician Mark Mitton made Carolina Herrera mysteriously appear in her new shop on the third floor, Josie Natori shared her new fragrance, Bobbi Brown gave make-overs and beauty tips for fall, Aerin Lauder consulted with customers on her top beauty picks and Frederic Fekkai gave hair styling advice.

Home Depot team up Martha Stewart for exclusive line

ATLANTA, Ga. Home Depot and Martha Stewart Living announced an agreement to develop an exclusive Martha Stewart Living brand of home improvement products in select categories including outdoor living, home organization and home decor.

Martha Stewart and her team of designers are working side by side with the Home Depot merchant and design teams to produce a brand that allows customers to coordinate decor and design elements when taking on home improvement projects.

Products in the Outdoor Living category will begin to launch in January 2010 in the United States and February 2010 in Canada. Products in the home organization categories will launch in February 2010. The outdoor living line will consist of different styles of patio dining and conversation sets ranging in price from $399 to $1,999, while the home organization category will feature a new closet organization system and a nine-cube organizational unit.

Both companies are in the process of developing additional product offerings that will be available in 2010 and more details will be announced in the first part of next year. All of these products will be available in Home Depot stores across both the United States and Canada as well as on homedepot.com.
