Canvas Lands End opens virtual pop-up
Dodgeville, Wis. — Canvas Lands’ End is reinventing the pop-up concept by taking it online with the first-ever blog-up shop. The result is Arrivals, a virtual pop-up shop series curated by eight well-known fashion and lifestyle bloggers. Each shop will function as its own mini e-commerce site and will feature fall and holiday looks styled by the blogger in his or her unique style that readers can purchase.
The shops will live on the individual bloggers’ sites for a week and on the Canvas Lands’ End site where all shops will be compiled. The first of eight Arrivals shops launched on Oct. 30, with shops continuing to roll out weekly through the end of the year.
The Arrivals shops will each contain three looks styled by the blogger. In addition, the bloggers will provide content to help shoppers put their own looks together. This will include a behind-the-scenes look at the bloggers’ styling processes, their must-have pieces and tips on where to wear the look. All content within the shops will also be fully sharable with easily accessed links that enable people to post the looks on their social channels, including Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter; #CanvasArrivals will be used to help track the conversation.
Finally, in addition to supporting their Arrivals shop by hosting it on their sites, the partner bloggers will be pushing out the content through their own social channels and on subsequent blog posts.
Nestlé names new head of nutrition division
VEVEY, Switzerland — Nestlé on Tuesday named Luis Cantarell head of Nestlé Nutrition with the departure of Kurt Schmidt, deputy EVP Nestlé Nutrition, who has decided to leave the company for personal reasons effective Dec. 1.
Cantarell will assume this role in addition to his current responsibilities as president and CEO of Nestlé Health Science. Between 2001 and 2005, he was in charge of Nestlé’s Nutrition Strategic Business Division.
"We respect Kurt Schmidt’s decision, thank him for his valuable contribution during his time at Nestlé and wish him all the best for the future," stated Paul Bulcke, Nestlé CEO. "Luis Cantarell plays an important role in shaping Nestlé’s nutrition, health and wellness vision, and his strong and proven leadership will be of great value to our nutrition business."
JCPenney adds top designers to holiday collection
PLANO, Texas — JCPenney has added limited-engagement collections from Lulu by Lulu Guinness, Jenny Packham and Double Happiness Vivienne Tam to its holiday assortment.
"We partnered with three leading designers to create unique collections that offer affordable luxury during the holidays," said Liz Sweney, chief merchant at jcpenney. "Each stayed true to her signature style to ensure every item reflects its namesake brand. The collections range in price from $8 to $65, making each piece accessible to more customers across the country."
The Lulu collection will include handbags and fashion accessories and will be available for a limited time during the holiday season. An expanded assortment will be available in 2013 as part of a dedicated shop inside JCPenney.
