Carmike Cinemas signs lease at Upland Square

West Pottsgrove, Pa. — Plymouth Meeting, Pa.-based Fameco Real Estate, L.P. said that Carmike Cinemas has signed a lease for an approximately 46,000-sq.-ft. state-of-the-art multi-screen movie theater to be located in the Upland Square Shopping Center, in West Pottsgrove, Pa.

Carmike Cinema’s lease signing at Upland Square cements the final anchor position at the center. Built in 2008 by a joint venture comprised of Cedar Shopping Centers and Tristate Ventures, L.P., Upland Square is anchored by Target, Giant, Best Buy, Staples, LA Fitness, Bed Bath & Beyond, Petco, TJ Maxx, and AC Moore.

Construction is expected to begin in March and the grand opening is expected in the fall.

Nordstrom Rack to open first Kansas City area store

Lenexa, Kan. — Seattle-based Nordstrom announced plans to open its first Nordstrom Rack in Kansas. The 34,925-sq.-ft. store will be located in Lenexa at the Orchard Corners shopping center and is expected to open in fall 2011.

“We are thrilled to be opening our first Nordstrom Rack in Kansas and looking forward to better serving our customers in the greater Kansas City area,” said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack. “This is a great location and we hope to make it more convenient for our customers to shop both our Nordstrom store and the Rack when we open this fall.”

Nordstrom frequently opens Rack stores near its full-line stores.

Nordstrom Rack will anchor the north end of the center, joining co-tenants Gordmans and Stein Mart. The Orchard Corners retail mix also includes Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry and Men’s Wearhouse.

The center is managed by Block and Co. and leased by RED Brokerage.

Ulysse Nardin, Gold To Go, Piñon Grill, Betsey Johnson and Men’s Express open at Town Center at Boca Raton

Boca Raton, Fla. — Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group announced that its Town Center at Boca Raton shopping mall is celebrating the grand opening of two national retail debuts, a Florida first in dining and several other upscale additions.

Recently, Swiss watch manufacturer Ulysse Nardin opened its first freestanding U.S. boutique at Town Center at Boca Raton. Prior to the holidays, gold vending machine, the GOLD to go ATM, opened.

Piñon Grill also recently made its first South Florida first appearance with an 8,000-sq.-ft. restaurant located at The Terrace at Town Center.

Piñon Grill joins The Capital Grille, Grand Lux Café, Legal Sea Foods, Stir Crazy and Blue Martini.

Town Center at Boca Raton, owned by Simon Property Group, features approximately 220 specialty stores, including Coach, Tiffany & Co., Michael Kors, Williams-Sonoma, Intermix, Pottery Barn, Ann Taylor, Crane & Co., and Juicy Couture. Department stores include Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Sears.
