Carter’s opens at SkyView Center

New York — Children’s apparel retailer Carter’s has celebrated the grand opening of its newest New York store at The Shops at SkyView Center in Flushing, Queens.

Located on Level B across from Chuck E. Cheese’s, Carter’s held an official ribbon cutting ceremony to formally launch the new space.

Douglas Development acquired mixed-use building

Washington, D.C. — Douglas Development announced that it has purchased a new mixed-use property in Chinatown DC. The 10,000-sq.-ft. building includes three levels of office space and 4,000 sq. ft. of street-level retail.

Douglas Development acquired the property from Washington, D.C.-based law firm Wingfield & Ginsburg, which has since leased back all of the office space from Douglas Development.

Burger King is located currently on the ground floor, but will relocate once its lease expires in early 2014. Douglas Development is in the process of selecting a new retailer to add to its portfolio of trendy Chinatown restaurants that include Graffiato, Sixth Engine, Legal Sea Foods, Matchbox, District of Pi, and new restaurants, Lime Fresh Mexican Grill and NoPa Kitchen + Bar, opening later this year.

Orvis to open at Village at Leesburg

Leesburg, Va. — Cypress Equities said that Orvis will open a new store at the 1.2 million-sq.-ft. Village at Leesburg mixed-use project in Leesburg, Va.

Orvis will occupy 6,022 sq. ft. in a new 13,000-sq.-ft. retail building currently under construction. Orvis is slated to open in fall 2013.

Village at Leesburg is a vertically integrated, four-story village encompassing 57 acres and featuring 520,000 sq. ft. of retail space, combined with 150,000 sq. ft. of office and 335 luxury multi-family residences. A Cypress Equities company is developing the commercial components of the project and Kettler is developing the residential component. The Carlyle Group is the lead equity partner in the development and KLNB Retail is handling the leasing of the retail sections.

The center includes a roster of 44 retailers now open including Wegmans Food Markets, LA Fitness, Charming Charlie, Coldwater Creek, Finnegan’s Sports Bar & Grill, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, Hamilton’s Sofa & Leather Gallery, Massage Envy, Plow & Hearth, Pinkberry, Cobb Village 12 Cinemas and Wells Fargo Bank.
