Charlotte Russe Chairman To Retire
San Diego Charlotte Russe Holding Inc. on Thursday said chairman Bernard Zeichner will retire, effective June 1. Director Jennifer Salopek, a principal with ARC Business Advisors LLC in New York, will replace him. She has been on the company’s board since February 2006.
Zeichner was named president and chief executive of Charlotte Russe in 1996 and became chairman in 1999, when the company went public.
Office Depot Board Gets Vote of Confidence
Delray Beach, Fla. Office Depot announced that independent voting advisory service PROXY Governance recommended that Office Depot stockholders should reject the two directors nominated by Alan Levan and his company, Woodbridge.
Office Depot stockholders will vote on the nominees at the annual Office Depot meeting scheduled for April 23. PROXY cited a number of reasons for rejecting the two nominees, including the “vagueness” of their proposed plan for change.
Additionally, PROXY noted that five of Office Depot’s 12 board members have extensive experience in office products vs. the two nominees, who PROXY suggested would have “to get up to speed on what levers for change are available.”
Kenneth Cole Passes CEO Torch
New York City Kenneth Cole Productions named Jill Granoff to the role of CEO. She assumes the position on May 5 and will report directly to current chief executive Kenneth Cole, who will continue to serve as the company’s chairman and chief creative officer.
Most recently, Granoff was executive VP of direct brands at Liz Claiborne, Inc., where she had responsibility for global brands including Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand Jeans, Kate Spade as well as the company’s outlet stores.
