Citi Trends Names President, COO
Savannah, Ga. Citi Trends Inc. on Monday named David Alexander president and COO, effective immediately.
Alexander, 51, was previously a consultant at private-equity company APAX Partners, and before that he was chief executive of PCA, which operates photography studios at Wal-Mart stores. He was president and COO at Family Dollar Stores Inc. from 2003 to 2005.
George A. Bellino was the most recent person to have the title of president. He retired as president and CMO in April. The COO position is new.
Retail Industry Cut 91,300 Jobs in Nov.
New York City The U.S. retail industry cut 91,300 jobs in November, marking the biggest employee-loss in 34 years.
November marked the 12th consecutive month of retail job reductions and was well-above the industry’s average monthly pace of 40,000.
Overall, the nation’s employers cut 533,000 jobs in November, pushing the unemployment rate to a 15-year high of 6.7%.
