Compare Metrics secures $3.8 million funding

Austin, Texas – Compare Metrics, a provider of adaptive commerce navigation and discovery tools, has secured $3.8 million in follow-on financing. The financing is led by Austin Ventures with additional funding by existing investors Julie Allegro of Allegro Venture Partners, Bob Greene of Contour Ventures, Capital Factory, Mike Maples Jr. of Floodgate, Brett Hurt of Hurt Family Investments and independent investors Ralph Mack and Adam Ross.

This brings the company’s total amount of funding to $8 million. This latest funding will be used to drive continued product and company growth. The company’s client services and product development teams will continue to expand. The follow-on funding is an inside round. No changes will be made to the Compare Metrics board structure.

Post-it sponsors Startup Weekend to help entrepreneurs launch their businesses

3M brand Post-it is sponsoring Startup Weekend, a program through the nonprofit UP Global that helps entrepreneurs launch their businesses in one weekend.

As part of this sponsorship, Post-it Brand will provide products to approximately 300 Startup Weekend events throughout the United States. Through this partnership, the Post-it brand will play a vital role in the idea-building and sharing processes among the event participants.

Post-it products used to brainstorm at the Startup Weekend events include Post-it Big Pads, Post-it Easel Pads, Post-it Full Adhesive Roll and Post-it Super Sticky Notes. The Post-it brand will also be filming a series of videos that will be featured on post-it.com/collaborate to help inspire others to turn their big ideas into reality.

“The Post-it Brand is excited to sponsor Startup Weekend and support their spirit of fostering creativity and innovation among the nation’s leading entrepreneurial minds,” said Jeff Hillins, global business director for Post-it. “Through this sponsorship, we look forward to learning how Startup Weekend’s participants use Post-it products to help them create bigger, better ideas together.”

Startup Weekend participants will also have the opportunity to submit entries to a photo contest, in which organizers and attendees can take inspiring photos of their team using Post-it products for a chance to win a prize sponsored by Post-it brand.

Unleashed by Petco to hang 10 with surfer dogs

Unleashed by Petco is taking over the reins of the largest surfing dog competition in the United States. Fifty dogs are expected to participate in this year’s Surf Dog competition, which will be held July 13 in Imperial Beach, Calif., adjacent to the pier.

Lowe’s hosted the competition for the past eight years. Unleashed by Petco is ready to take the helm and take things to “the next level.”

"As a San Diego-based company, we are excited to be able to host such a fantastic event that not only embodies our local surf culture, but provides a fun day of bonding for pet and pet parents," says Evan Harding, director of marketing for Unleashed by Petco.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include a dog park, treats for both dogs and humans and a dog wash station. Animal care experts will also be on hand to ensure all participants are kept safe.

For the third consecutive year, the event will benefit the ASPCA. Those who are interested in participating can register at www.unleashedbypetco.com/surfdog.
