Coop Adriatica to install self-service payment systems

Bologna, Italy Coop Adriatica, a retailer with 156 supermarkets and hypermarkets spread over Italy, is working with Datalogic Group to install 1,000 Datalogic Joya pods at some of its locations.

Joya will be used at various Coop Adriatica stores, replacing older technology systems, to provide shoppers with a convenient, fast and interactive shopping experience.

Through Joya self-service payment systems, consumer place items in bags directly inside the cart. Products do not need to be transferred to the belt at checkout, ensuring prompt payment.

Joya allows the customer to view the total shopping spending in real time with constant updating of the sales invoice. It also shows promotional items that are on sale in the store.

A Suave move

Target announced that Suave, a sponsor partner of its Chip Ganassi racing program, has increased its role in 2010, with the Suave brand being featured in the IZOD IndyCar Series.

Suave served as the primary sponsor of the Target Chip Ganassi Racing No.10 Honda Dallara for reigning IZOD IndyCar Series Champion Dario Franchitti in Round 3 of the series at the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by Legacy Credit Union at Barber Motorsports Park on April 11.

The partnership with the team is a follow-up from last year’s program where Unilever brand Vaseline MEN was the primary paint scheme for one race with Dario Franchitti.

Michaels to host Mother’s Day project workshops

IRVING, Texas Michaels announced that it will host a series of Mother’s Day gift-making events throughout the first week of May.

Classes will be held in all Michaels stores and will feature a free or low-cost project including glass bead jewelery making, mug decoration and t-shirt design.

 

“Our workshops are a convenient and inexpensive way for the entire family to make Mother’s Day special,” said Michaels’ SVP and chief marketing officer Paula Puleo. “Moms especially love to receive thoughtful, handmade gifts from their children.”

Michaels announced also the launch of its new Facebook fan page with “The Search For America’s Most Creative Mom” contest starting April 27th through May 11th. Fans can nominate the special moms in their lives and share stories and photos of her creations for a chance to win a $1,000 Michaels gift card.
