Copeland Sports Announces Restructuring Changes
San Luis Obispo, Calif., Sporting goods retailer Copeland Sports has announced ownership and management changes, along with a new financing agreement, in conjunction with the filing of a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
Tom, Jim and Mike Copeland have reacquired ownership of the company, and will resume an active management role. Copeland Sports also appointed Barry Soosman, who was formerly an executive VP of Guitar Center, to serve as CEO.
Copeland Sports filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 on Monday. At the same time, the company announced that it had reached an agreement with Wells Fargo Retail Finance, LLC on a $25 million debtor-in-possession credit facility.
The Children’s Place Names New Execs
Secaucus, N.J., The Children’s Place Retail Stores announced the appointments of Tara Poseley as president, Disney Store, and Jill Kronenberg as senior VP, GMM, The Children’s Place. Poseley, 41, will join in September, while Kronenberg, 37, will join in October.
Poseley most recently served as president and CEO of Design Within Reach and previously served as senior VP of GapKids/babyGap. Kronenberg spent nine years with Aeropostale in increasing roles of responsibility within merchandising and most recently served as GMM of the JIMMY’Z division.
HMV Names New CEO
London, Britain’s HMV Group plc has appointed Simon Fox as CEO, effective Sept. 28. Fox, most recently COO of electrical-goods retailer Kesa Electricals plc, will take over the role from Alan Giles at the company’s annual meeting in September.
