Crocs unveils new store concept
Niwot, Colo. — Casual footwear-retailer Crocs debuted its new concept store, with locations in Mall of America, Bloomington, Minn.; Barton Creek, Austin, Texas; and Streets at Southpoint, Durham, N.C.
The store is designed to provide an engaging, fun and high-touch environment, inviting consumers to explore, interact and shop. “This new concept store is a key part of our long-term strategic plan. We set out to merchandise our diverse product mix, as well as create a space that is flexible and can adapt to our evolving brand direction and merchandising offering,” said John McCarvel, president and CEO, Crocs.
Crocs worked with architecture and design firm Callison to create unique design elements.
“The partnership with Crocs is a perfect example of how the collaboration was able to deliver a new branded retail concept by managing all aspects of the design said MJ Munsell, principal of global retail at Callison. “The result is a concept that feels like a journey taking customers through lifestyle vignettes that help them discover Crocs in a whole new way.”
Aeropostale appoints Starbucks exec to board
New York City — Aeropostale announced that Arthur Rubinfeld, president – global development for Starbucks Coffee Co., has been appointed to the Aeropostale board of directors.
Rubinfeld helped build the foundation of Starbucks as senior VP real estate from 1992 to 2002, and returned to the company in his current position in 2008.
Olympia Sports open 200th location
Westbrook, Maine — Olympia Sports has opened its 200th store, in Dunkirk, Md., at Dunkirk Gateway Shopping Center.
The regional sporting goods chain has four more confirmed openings by yearend.
“We will continue to expand in our current footprint as well as throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. Our studies have shown a real opportunity for expansion throughout this new market, and we plan to aggressively pursue those opportunities,” said Ed Manganello, president.
