Each week, host Michael Bull of America’s Commercial Real Estate Radio Show interviews leading industry data providers to uncover the latest national market updates and best practices.

This week’s topic was Retail Tenant Strategies, and for his guest, Mr. Bull swung the mic over to our own Katherine Field Boccaccio, Senior Editor with Chain Store Age, to discuss the importance of, and trends with, grocery store anchor tenants.

In this exclusive segment, Katherine also shares who’s expanding and which sectors and tenants are hot and which ones are not in the retail world.  She commented on some of the more interesting, even unexpected real estate strategies, as well as provided tips and best practices for retail tenants.

Forest City teams with FaceCake on 3D virtual dressing room

BY Staff Writer

Cleveland — Forest City Commercial Management, in partnership with FaceCake Marketing Technologies, said it is previewing a new technology at three of its California shopping centers that allows mall shoppers to try on a vast inventory of clothing and accessories from multiple stores via the first full-motion, 3D, real-time virtual dressing room.

Called Swivel, the technology enables shoppers to virtually see themselves in clothing and accessories and “swivel” to view the look from all angles on a large flat-screen monitor. Shoppers can choose from multiple background scenes, and get a realistic 3D view of how the outfit looks in different settings. Shoppers can also share photos via Facebook, Twitter or email.

Forest City is partnering with FaceCake to bring Swivel to South Bay Galleria Sept. 2-4, Victoria Gardens Sept. 9-10 and Promenade Temecula Sept. 16-18.

“We are always looking for ways to integrate technology into the bricks-and-mortar retail shopping experience,” said Stephanie Shriver-Engdahl, director of advertising at Forest City Enterprises. “We’re bringing Swivel to our properties as an introduction to a new channel for shoppers and retailers to stay connected in person as well as online between in-store visits.”
