Data breach is hot topic at SPECS 2014

BY Katherine Boccaccio

New York — Bryan Sartin, director of Verizon’s RISK Team, will discuss the link between security breaches and automated building management systems at Chain Store Age’s 50th annual SPECS Conference, March 9-12, 2014
, at the Gaylord Texan Hotel, Grapevine, Texas.

The topic has emerged as a critical issue since it was learned that the hackers responsible for Target’s massive data breach may have gained initial access to the retailer’s network using credentials stolen from a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) contractor.

Sartin heads the Research, Investigations, Solutions, Knowledge (RISK) Team at Verizon Enterprise Solutions. The Team has 106 full-time investigation staff who come from law enforcement, military, military intelligence, and specialty engineering.

Sartin will be a featured speaker at the SPECS “Tech Boot Camp: Operational Technology” session, on Tuesday, March 11 at 1:40 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
