DDR releases 2013 corporate social responsibility report

Beachwood, Ohio — DDR Corp has published its 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility report, which can be viewed at csr.ddr.com. The report features various initiatives taken by DDR employees throughout 2013

“Our employees across the United States, Puerto Rico and Brazil are finding innovative ways to deliver results that elevate our business performance, and do so in a way that promotes environmental, philanthropic and civic appreciation,” said Daniel B. Hurwitz, chief executive officer of DDR.

To that end, DDR and its employees elevated awareness in 2013 through charitable contributions and volunteering for various civic and non-profit organizations. Additionally, the company advanced its focus on building and maintaining a progressive corporate culture by further investing in training and professional development for all employees. Lastly, from an environmental perspective, the company improved upon numerous sustainability initiatives aimed at energy reduction, water conservation and recycling.

Two new retailers sign into Glen Town Center in Glenview, Ill.

Chicago — Forever Yogurt and T’s Code, a women’s clothing boutique, have leased shops in Glen Town Center in Glenview, Ill. Forever Yogurt has taken 1,134 sq. ft., and T’s Code will occupy 1,789 sq. ft. CBRE represented the landlord, Bank of America Commercial Mortgage, in both leases.

The 469,000-sq.-ft. Glen town Center recently added several new tenants including Pinot’s Palette, Mooyah (burgers), The Curragh Irish Pub, Mingle Juice Shop, and two women’s boutiques in Stella 315 and Ella Louvi. Anchor tenants include Von Mauer, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ulta and a Regal Cinema.

New Sears Appliance & Hardware Store opens in Texas

Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. has opened a new Sears Appliance & Hardware Store located in Huntsville, Texas. The store was the fourth Sears Appliance & Hardware Store to open in 2013 and will celebrate its official grand opening Feb. 28-March 1.

The new 18,000-sq.-ft. store offers in-store services such as blade sharpening, key cutting and screen repair, as well as products typically found in local hardware stores, such as fasteners and electrical and plumbing supplies.

"By converting a local Sears Hometown store into our new Sears Appliance & Hardware, we’ve nearly tripled our floor space, now offering consumers 18,000 sq. ft. of a much greater assortment of merchandise, all at low prices," said owner Damon Fenley. "The Huntsville community has given us such a warm welcome since day one, we can’t thank them enough and look forward to building more relationships and becoming a valuable partner."
