Delhaize to close 15 Food Lion stores
Charlotte, N.C. Delhaize Group will shutter 15 Food Lion and one Bloom store as part of a U.S. restructuring plan.
The company said its decision to close the underperforming stores “will favorably impact our operating profit from 2010 onwards.”
Affected employees can apply for other positions within the company.
Delhaize Group said it will focus on increased investments, accelerated store openings and cost reductions. It plans to open between 120 and 130 stores this year and remodel 100.
GNC to open at Culpeper Colonnade

The 267,032-sq.-ft. Culpeper Colonnade shopping center is anchored by Target and Martin’s Food Market alongside PetSmart, Staples, Chick-fil-A, Hair Cuttery and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
Tucker Development announces exec promotions
Highland Park, Ill. Tucker Development Corp. said Wednesday it has promoted two of its shopping center executives.
Rob Clark has been promoted to VP development from development manager, and Jeff Glenner has been promoted to development director from development associate.
In their new roles, Clark and Glenner will be responsible for leading all development activities throughout the company’s active markets, including Illinois, New Jersey and Wisconsin.
