Delia’s and RCS team on real estate
New York — Real estate advisory firm RCS Real Estate Advisors said Wednesday that it has been retained by teen retailer Delia’s to evaluate the performance of its real estate portfolio and serve as the outsourced real estate department for all retail locations.
Delia’s portfolio consists of more than 110 mall-based specialty retail locations across the United States. RCS is charged with the ongoing management of the retailer’s existing locations as well as optimizing underperforming stores and identifying and pursuing new real estate opportunities for the chain.
Report: J.C. Penney to add more promotions
New York — J.C. Penney appears to be relenting a bit on the strict non-promotional strategy launched by CEO Ron Johnson.
In a report on CNBC.com, Deutsche Bank analyst Charles Grom said the chain has added five "Best Price Friday" events to its calendar. The first took place the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, and another is scheduled for Black Friday in November. Others may occur at peak sales times, according to Grom.
"The additional Best Price Fridays equates to adding promotions and is a step away from the company’s three kinds of pricing strategy, suggesting that the company is willing to forgo its original thinking," Grom wrote, according to the report.
Modell’s Sporting Goods selects Shopatron to manage online orders
New York — Modell’s Sporting Goods, which operates 150+ brick-and-mortar stores as well as Modells.com, said Wednesday it has selected San Luis Obispo, Calif.-based e-commerce provider Shopatron as its order management solution to deliver officially licensed sports gear to fans just in time for the playoffs.
Modell’s said it will continue to add more product categories to the site throughout the year, including athletic footwear, active apparel and other sporting goods, to bring its complete in-store selection online.
The deal with Shopatron will allow Modell’s to optimize the fulfillment of online orders by shipping orders from one of Modell’s retail locations, distribution centers or third-party vendors. Shopatron’s distributed order management platform gives Modell’s the ability to integrate its offline locations into its e-commerce program, promoting expedited fulfillment, efficient inventory management and the future capabilities for in-store order pickup.
"The ability to integrate our local retail stores with our online store is an invaluable asset," said Mitchell Modell, CEO of Modell’s Sporting Goods.
In addition to order management, Shopatron manages payment processing, fraud protection and order support for Modells.com.
