Einstein Bros. automates service relationships with ServiceNow platform

BY Dan Berthiaume

Lakewood, Colo. – Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, parent company of the Einstein Bros. Bagels, Noah’s New York Bagels and Manhattan Bagel Company brands, has rolled out the cloud-based ServiceNow platform. Einstein retail brands are now automating and managing service relationships across the global enterprise through a single system of record.

Einstein Noah retail employees and staff from the organization’s IT, HR, marketing, payroll, real estate and risk departments use ServiceNow daily to track and resolve technical and compliance issues. The retailer says the automation of enterprise-wide services has improved end-user support processes at restaurants nationwide. To speed implementation and adoption of ServiceNow, Einstein Noah engaged ServiceNow solutions partner Cloud Sherpas.

“Just dealing with simple IT service requests like fixing a point-of-sale system or ordering new equipment was exhausting, both for our store reps and our IT team,” said Brian Kenfield, project manager at Einstein Noah Restaurant Group. “We were using paper and fax to submit service requests and an offline legacy software product to capture and monitor them. Reporting was impossible and visibility into incident status was extremely limited. “

Kenfield said that ServiceNow has enabled the company to automate key processes and speed service request fulfillment.

“We now have a centralized resource for IT service management that spans our entire organization,” he said.

Stein Mart announces new office of the president

BY Staff Writer

Jacksonville, Fla. — Stein Mart’s board of directors has appointed D. Hunt Hawkins and Brian R. Morrow to share the newly created office of the president. Both men will continue to report to CEO Jay Stein.

"Hunt and Brian have made significant contributions in the success of the company," said Stein. "Their promotions are a testament to their leadership that has built a team that has produced seven consecutive quarters of comp store gains, a dramatic departure from the achievements of past management, and reflect the confidence the board and I have in them."

Hawkins joined the company in 1994, and rose through the ranks. In 2011, he was named executive VP and COO.

Morrow joined the company in 2010 as executive VP and chief merchandising officer. Previously, he served as senior VP and general merchandising manager with Macy’s North/Marshall Field’s.

Overstock.com now offering… insurance?

BY CSA STAFF

Overstock.com is now offering insurance for vehicle, residential and small businesses on its online shopping site.

"Overstock’s mission is to offer high-quality products at low prices in order to save people money, and the launch of our insurance tab fits this mission beautifully. Our insurance tab is, in effect, an insurance exchange, which lets consumers compare live quotes for insurance on residential, vehicle, and small business insurance, and bind (that is, pay for and have go into effect) insurance policies right from our site," said CEO Patrick M. Byrne. "This is insurance done right."

According to the company, by visiting its insurance homepage, shoppers can get a personalized on-screen quote to confirm they have found the most affordable insurance solution to fit their needs. Once shoppers have elected an insurance plan, they can then manage their policy online from the Overstock.com site. From boat and snowmobile insurance to workers comp, Overstock.com offers a range of policies.

"Millions of consumers are looking for more affordable insurance. We’re here to help," added Byrne.

Overstock.com has partnered with Insuritas for this launch of its insurance offering.
