Executive Promotions at Stein Mart

Jacksonville, Fla., Stein Mart has promoted D. Hunt Hawkins, senior VP of human resources, to executive VP, operations. In his new position, he will have responsibility for store operations and human resources.

In addition, the chain appointed William A. Moll, general merchandising manager women’s ready-to-wear, to executive VP and chief merchandising officer. He will have responsibility for all buying, planning and allocations functions.

Urban Retail Properties Names New Senior Associate

Chicago, Urban Retail Properties has named Chris Klare to senior associate, acquisitions and development. Klare’s main responsibilities will include evaluating acquisition and development opportunities, as well as coordinating the acquisition process. Prior to joining Urban, Klare worked at Peterson Economics, where he advised developers, landowners and resort operators on market positioning and development scenarios for multiple-use, master-planned resort communities throughout the continental United States, Hawaii and Mexico.

Copeland Sports Announces Restructuring Changes

San Luis Obispo, Calif., Sporting goods retailer Copeland Sports has announced ownership and management changes, along with a new financing agreement, in conjunction with the filing of a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

Tom, Jim and Mike Copeland have reacquired ownership of the company, and will resume an active management role. Copeland Sports also appointed Barry Soosman, who was formerly an executive VP of Guitar Center, to serve as CEO.

Copeland Sports filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 on Monday. At the same time, the company announced that it had reached an agreement with Wells Fargo Retail Finance, LLC on a $25 million debtor-in-possession credit facility.
