Family Dollar names Jason Reiser as senior VP/lead merchandiser
Matthews, N.C. — Family Dollar has elevated Jason Reiser to the position of senior VP/lead merchandising officer at Family Dollar, according to an internal memo from company president and COO Mike Bloom.
"In this role, Jason will have executive responsibility for leading cohesive merchandising strategy and execution," Bloom wrote. "Jason has already made a positive impact since joining Family Dollar in July. In this new role, he will use his strong team leadership experience and his extensive discount retail background with Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club to drive our continued success."
Reiser will report to Bloom.
Additionally, to further evolve the company’s global sourcing capabilities, the global sourcing organization will align under the executive direction of Holly Shaskey-Platek. Jennifer Warner, VP global sourcing, will report to Shaskey-Platek.
Reiser came to Family Dollar in July from Sam’s Club, where he spent more than 17 years in a variety of roles, including, most recently, VP merchandising, health and family care. Reiser holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University.
Revel to offer PayPal as integrated service
San Francsico — iPad POS technology provider Revel Systems will offer PayPal’s mobile payment capabilities as an integrated service within the Revel POS solution.
PayPal’s mobile app, available for iOS and Android, is now directly connected with Revel Systems, allowing users to order ahead at any establishment using Revel’s iPad POS solution. Specific features of the new integration include mobile discovery of nearby businesses accepting PayPal, advance ordering, and PCI-compliant payment security.

Coldwater Creek tech exec joins Kurt Salmon
New York — Management consulting firm Kurt Salmon appointed Deanna Emsley as a partner in the firm’s retail and consumer products Group.
Prior to joining Kurt Salmon, Emsley was senior VP of inventory management and corporate strategy for women’s clothing and accessories retailer Coldwater Creek, where she was responsible for sales, margin and inventory plans for all channels.
During her time at the women’s clothing and accessories retailer, she made significant improvements to its inventory management by completely reengineering its planning processes and systems. Emsley also worked for Oracle as a senior delivery director of planning, supply chain and optimization in its retail global business unit.
Emsley has nearly 25 years of experience in retail, specializing in planning, forecasting, distribution and omnichannel. She has worked as a consultant and in-house for top-tier brands, including Williams-Sonoma and Abercrombie & Fitch.
