Family Dollar Names VP, Merchandising Operations

Matthews, N.C., Family Dollar Stores has named Scott Zucker to the position of VP, merchandising operations. Zucker will report to Robert George, executive VP and chief merchandising officer.

In his new role, Zucker will oversee various departments including category management, pricing, merchandise solutions, vendor management and visual merchandising.

Zucker joined Family Dollar in 2006 as divisional VP, pricing. Prior to joining Family Dollar, he was a buyer with Belk, Inc.

J. C. Penney Names Marketing Director

Plano, Texas, J. C. Penney Co. has appointed Ruby Anik director of brand marketing and senior VP. Anik comes to the company from Best Buy Co., where she oversaw marketing communications as a senior VP. She joined Best Buy in 2000 and has spent 25 years in marketing.

Anik will be responsible for ensuring J. C. Penney’s marketing consistently reflects its strategy and style. She will report to chief marketing officer Mike Boylson.

Gottschalks Appoints VP, Logistics

Fresno, Calif., Gottschalks Inc. has appointed David Navarro to serve as VP, logistics. Navarro will join the company’s distribution-center team and will report directly to executive VP and COO, Gregory Ambro.

Navarro has more than 25 years of experience in distribution, logistics and corporate transportation. Prior to joining Gottschalks he worked for eight years with Liz Claiborne Inc., where he served most recently as director of corporate transportation and customer compliance, and director of corporate distribution.
