Fashion Outlets of Chicago announces tenant lineup
New York — Fashion Outlets of Chicago, a new mall due to open in August near O’Hare International Airport, on Tuesday announced its tenant list.
The two-level, 530,000-sq.-ft. center will be anchored by a Bloomingdale’s outlet, Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th and Forever 21.
The 100-retailer lineup also includes Banana Republic, Barneys New York, J.Crew, Michael Kors, Nike, and Tory Burch. See the full list here.
The mall will also have nearly 20 dining options.
“The era of the shopper and the community being estranged from one another and the mall as a remote appendage doesn’t work any longer,” said Arthur Weiner, chairman of AWE Talisman, Fashion Outlets’ Coral Gables, Fla.-based co-developer. “We’re integrating fashion, food, art and shopping.”
City Sports to open largest store to date, in NYC’s Financial District
Boston — City Sports today announced plans for two new stores, including its largest store to date, in New York City’s financial district. Slated to open at the end of March, the bi-level, 10,500-sq.-ft. space will feature an open floor plan and many other details that nod to the building’s origins as a bank. The store will be City Sports’ third location in NYC.
In addition, the chain announced a new location for its Chestnut Hill, Mass., store, set for a March 16 opening to coincide with the brand’s 30th anniversary.
"We couldn’t think of a better way to kick off City Sports’ 30th birthday than with the housewarming of our new home in Chestnut Hill," said City Sports president and CEO Edward Albertian.
At over 9,200 sq. ft., the new Chestnut Hill space will feature new and expanded departments for women’s apparel, footwear, youth and team sports. The chain’s footwear department also gets an upgrade with an in-store track and treadmill to test out more than 300 styles.

Target to open three pilot stores in Canada on March 5
Mississauga, Ontario — Target announced that it is opening three pilot stores in Ontario on March 5 at Stone Road in Guelph, Milton Mall Shopping Centre in Milton and Gates of Fergus in Fergus. The three pilot stores are the first Target locations to open in Canada, and the first of 124 Target stores that will open across the country throughout 2013.
The three pilot locations marks the final phase in a testing process, which was designed to prepare systems, train team members and determine operational readiness as the first wave of 24 stores soft open across Ontario later in March, the retailer said.
Each pilot store will open to the public on March 5 at 8 a.m. Although hours may fluctuate as the testing process continues, the pilot stores are expected to be open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Like the majority of Target locations opening in Canada, the pilot stores feature a licensed Starbucks, as well as an in-store pharmacy designed to provide guests with superior patient-centered health care.
"The Target team is excited to open these test locations as we put the finishing touches on our stores, assortments and inventory," said Tony Fisher, president, Target Canada. "We look forward to delivering on our Expect More. Pay Less. brand promise and providing an outstanding shopping experience as we approach our grand opening in early April."
