Five new retailers to open at Westchester’s Ridge Hill

Yonkers, N.Y. — Forest City Ratner Cos., the developer of Westchester’s Ridge Hill, in Yonkers, N.Y., announced that four new retailers have completed leases and will be opening their stores during the spring/summer 2012. They are LA Fitness; T.J. Maxx; Pandora and Francesca’s Collection.

Additionally, Guitar Center, which had previously executed a lease, will be opening its new store at Ridge Hill during the December holiday season. These new stores will occupy 108,939 sq. ft. at Westchester’s Ridge Hill.

LA Fitness will open a 60,000-sq.-ft. facility in summer 2012, T.J. Maxx will open a 32,000-sq.-ft. store in summer in 2012, Pandora’s 889-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open spring 2012, and Francesca’s Collections will open in 940 sq. ft. in spring 2012.

The new retailers join a lineup of tenants anchored by Whole Foods, cookware retailer Sur La Table, L.L. Bean, Cinema De Lux, Dick’s Sporting Goods and REI, and clothiers H&M, Desigual, Republic of Couture, Gap and Old Navy. Lord & Taylor, which is building its first ground-up store in 10 years, is opening in March 2012.

Morton Williams Gourmet Store to open in Manhattan

New York City — The Feil Organization announced a lease has been signed with Morton Williams for a gourmet specialty food store at 140 West 57th Street in Manhattan.

Morton Williams will occupy three levels totaling 14,984 sq. ft. at the Landmark office building. The New York-based grocer operates 12 stores in New York City, Westchester and New Jersey. The 57th Street location will be the company’s thirteenth store.

Apple opens in Grand Central Terminal

New York –Apple on Friday, opened its newest Big Apple store, a 23,000-sq-.ft. outpost in the landmarked Grand Central Terminal. The company said 2,500 people were waiting in line before the opening, and the store had nearly 4,000 visitors before noon.

The space had been previously occupied by a restaurant, which closed earlier this summer. It is Apple’s fifth location in Manhattan,

The store—one of Apple’s largest—features sleek tables for product testing and two Genius Bars for technical support. In a nod to commuters, it is offering 15-minute express classes on Apple products.
