FMI names government relations lead

Arlington, Va. — The Food Marketing Institute said Tuesday that it has appointed Robert Rosado as director of government relations.

According to FMI, Rosado will focus on legislation that impacts supermarkets in the areas of food safety, health care, food deserts and the 2012 Farm Bill.

“Rob has a broad range of expertise in food and agriculture that will be very helpful to FMI and its members. His background also includes working with federal agencies on many issues related to the food retail industry,” said FMI president and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin.

Rosado joins FMI from the Biotechnology Industry Organization where he was policy manager for the food and agriculture issues. Before joining BIO, he served as director of legislative and political affairs for the Foreign Agriculture Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Campbell Soup appoints VP corporate development

CAMDEN, N.J. — A former Walmart VP has joined Campbell Soup as its VP corporate development.

In this new role, Raymond Liguori will be responsible for Campbell’s efforts in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures. He will report to Craig Owens, Campbell’s CFO and chief administrative officer.

Liguori, who has more than 23 years of financial leadership experience, joined Campbell Soup from Walmart, where he most recently served as VP mergers and acquisitions, leading all international merger, acquisition and divestiture activities for the retailer.

Vitamin Shoppe announces opening of 500th store

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. — Vitamin Shoppe on Monday opened the doors to store No. 500 in St. Peters, Mo. — the company’s first store in that market and the third in the state.

"The opening of our 500th store is an extremely important event and a rewarding accomplishment that our entire company can be proud of,” Vitamin Shoppe CEO Tony Truesdale said. “The community’s commitment to health and wellness make the city an ideal location for The Vitamin Shoppe and we are very excited to have our 500th store in this market,” he said. “There are many markets we are interested in establishing a presence in, and we will continue to move forward with our growth plans to expand in current markets and penetrate new ones."
