Foot Locker, Victoria’s Secret expand at Valley Plaza Mall
Bakersfield, Calif. — Foot Locker and Victoria’s Secret have expanded and remodeled at the 1.1 million-sq.-ft. Valley Plaza Mall in Bakersfield, Calif. Victoria’s Secret has also opened a new store for the popular PINK brand.
The newly remodeled Foot Locker, now spanning 5,000 sq. ft., plans to introduce an exclusive department called House of Hoops. It will feature elite athletic apparel and footwear.
Victoria’s Secret also remodeled, increasing the store’s size to 7,991 sq. ft. The new PINK brand store stretches 4,949 sq. ft. and will feature women’s undergarments and apparel.
Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Forever 21, Sears and Target anchor the mall, which is owned by General Growth.
New Sam’s Club in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Glen Carbon, Ill. — A new 136,000-sq.-ft. Sam’s Club will host a grand opening on Thursday in Glen Carbon, Ill. A number of local businesses will be on hand for the grand opening to showcase their products. They include The Billy Goat Chip Company, Excel Bottling Co., Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Café, Zettie’s Confections and Swiss Meat & Sausage Co.
The Glen Carbon club will have a full-service pharmacy where members and the public can save on medications. Sam’s Club also offers an optical department and a hearing aid center.
Subway reaches 40,000th location
Milford, Conn. — Subway opened its 40,000th location at an AppleGreen petrol station in Ipswich, England. The company has opened 1,761 locations around the world since the start of 2013. The largest chain of sub shops in the world, Subway leads the next largest chain by more than 5,500 locations.
The U.K. is the brand’s third largest market, behind the U.S. and Canada. There are 14,000 international locations in 102 countries outside the U.S.
