Former Ace Hardware director dies at 89
Oak Brook, Ill. Gregg Ziegler, the former director and vice chairman of Ace Hardware Corp.’s board of directors, died last week due to natural causes. He was 89.
The World War II veteran joined the family business, Ziegler’s Ace Hardware, in 1947. He was the recipient of the 1983 Illinois Retail Merchants Association’s Retailer of the Year.
CDS International names VP development
Delray Beach, Fla. CDS International Holdings has named Bill Morris to serve as VP development for the company, responsible for the Atlantic Plaza II redevelopment in downtown Delray Beach, Fla.
Morris will oversee the $325 million project to transform two city blocks into one suburban mixed-use destination. Morris has planned and developed more than 15 million sq. ft. of office and retail space and 3,000 residential units, with a focus on urban upscale residential and mixed-use projects.
Prior to establishing his own company, Southcoast Partners, Morris was divisional president of Arvida/JMB Partners.
RILA appoints two new board members
Washington, D.C. The Retail Industry Leaders Association added two retail industry executives to its board of directors during its semi-annual meeting held this week in Washington, D.C.
Eugenio Minvielle, executive VP, Unilever and president, North America Unilever will join the RILA board, along with Karen Lowe, general manager, global retail industry, IBM Corp. Reimbursement.
Among the topics discussed at this week’s meeting were swipe-fee reform, implementation of healthcare reform and streamlined sales tax.
