The Foundry Big & Tall Supply Co., Dallas

J.C. Penney has taken the wraps off its new retail concept, The Foundry Big & Tall Supply Co., opening the first location in Dallas. With the first 10 stores due to open in the Dallas and Kansas City, Mo., markets by the end of May, J.C. Penney plans to expand concept nationwide to 100 stores by 2013, reaching a total of 300 stores over the next five years.

Averaging 5,000-sq.-ft., The Foundry offers a hip, unpretentious environment with flat-screen TVs tuned to sports, an oversized poker table and comfortable seating.

Inspired by the look of a microbrewery, The Foundry has an urban, industrial design with concrete and wood flooring, brick walls, exposed ceilings, modern lighting, and steel and wood fixtures. From the porch entry to the game room lounge to the large copper tanks that serve as the fitting rooms, the stores are designed to make their target audience feel comfortable.

Kohl’s named exclusive retailer of Rock & Republic

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s announced that it will be the exclusive U.S. provider and marketer of VF Corp.’s Rock & Republic brand. Beginning spring 2012, Rock & Republic apparel, accessories and all other merchandise will be available in Kohl’s stores nationwide and www.Kohls.com.

“We are pleased to partner with VF Corporation to bring the Rock & Republic brand, a contemporary lifestyle collection known for its quality and style, exclusively to Kohl’s,” said Kevin Mansell, Kohl’s chairman, president and CEO. “Building on Kohl’s successful exclusive and private brand strategy, the addition of the Rock & Republic brand delivers on our commitment to offer world-class brands at an incredible value and continues to differentiate Kohl’s in the marketplace.”

Rock & Republic products will have prominent positioning throughout the store in the contemporary areas, Kohl’s reported. The brand will initially launch in men’s and women’s apparel and footwear. The collection may expand into children’s, accessories and home over time, according to the company.

JCP’s Foundry makes big (and tall) debut

PLANO, Texas — JCPenney’s big-and-tall concept will debut next month, and from the company’s description, it seems as much a sports bar as it is a clothing store — without beers on tap. The 5,000 sq.-ft.Foundry Big & Tall Supply Co. stores will featureflat screen TVs tuned to sports, an oversized poker table and comfortable seating, where, according to the company "[customers] can relax, enjoy themselves and shop some of the biggest names in menswear — in sizes that fit. "

The Foundry will open its first10 stores in Dallas and Kansas City on May 14 and May 21, respectively. JCPenney plans to expand the concept nationwide to100 stores by 2013, reaching a total of 300 stores over the next five years.

Inside the stores, customers will find an assortment of brands including Calvin Klein, Izod, Levi’s, Nautica and Nike, as well as The Foundry’s own line of polos, tees, woven sportshirts, shorts, socks, underwear, belts, dress shirts, ties, casual bottoms and activewear, the company reported. Footwear sizes will range from 10 regular to 16 wide, with extended sizes available at www.FoundryBigandTall.com. Sportswear will be available in sizes up to 10X, and suits will be available for up to size 60.Items are priced from $20 to $35 for a tee to $175 to $200 for specialty suit coats.
