Frederick’s of Hollywood exploring possible sale

Hollywood, Calif. — Frederick’s of Hollywood Group Inc. has retained Allen & Co. LLC, a New York-based investment bank, to assist the retailer in evaluating and exploring a broad range of strategic alternatives, including a sale of the company or a business combination.

“Over the past few months, the Board has received several inquiries regarding various transactions,” said Thomas Lynch, the company’s chairman and CEO. “We believe it is an appropriate time to formalize the process by engaging a world-class advisor that can assist us in identifying and reviewing a wide array of strategic alternatives that can maximize value for our shareholders.”

Frederick’s of Hollywood sells women’s intimate apparel, swimwear and related products under its proprietary Frederick’s brand through 117 specialty retail stores, a catalog and online.

Cabela’s to open store on property owned by Green Bay Packers

New York — Cabela’s plans to open a store in Ashwaubenon, Wis., on property owned by the Green Bay Packers. The store is scheduled to open in the summer of 2013, with construction to begin this fall.

The approximately 100,000-sq.-ft. location will be located in the Titletown Development area being developed in conjunction with the Green Bay Packers. The store will feature Cabela’s next-generation layout, designed to surround customers in an outdoor-like experience with dynamic wildlife displays. In addition to thousands of quality outdoor products, the store will include a large mountain replica featuring North American game animals re-created in their natural habitat, a Gun Library, aquarium, Bargain Cave, Boat Shop and Deli.

The store also will feature a Sportsman’s Hall of Fame displaying Wisconsin trophy animal mounts, as well as a “view-through” design highlighted by large glass windows allowing customers to see the store’s interior as they approach both the front and back of the building.

Cabela’s currently operates 36 retail stores across the United States and Canada and will open a location in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, on May 10. Cabela’s also has announced plans to open stores in Charleston, W.Va.; Rogers, Ark.; and Union Gap, Wash., later this year.

Additionally, in 2013, the company plans to open stores in Grandville, Mich.; Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Ky.; Thornton, Colo.; and Lone Tree, Col.

B&Q deploys SAP’s forecasting and replenishment application

Eastleigh, United Kingdom — SAP AG announced that British multinational home-improvement retailing company B&Q has gone live with the SAP Forecasting and Replenishment application. The deployment is part of the chain’s "Project Clover" business transformation program.

With the implementation of the SAP solution, B&Q expects to see significant savings across stock reduction, increased profit from better product availability and cost savings in logistics through better forecasting and planning. As manual processes are replaced with automated processes, the company also expects to see increased efficiency in its supply chain. Stock quantities and phasing will match each individual stores’ sales patterns and the platform will allow collaborative relationships and planning with suppliers throughout the supply chain.

“Stock availability is at the heart of everything B&Q does, so we need to have the most efficient processes in place to remain at the top of our game and continue to delight our customers everyday,” said Suren Sornalingam, project executive, B&Q. “Project Clover was so much more than a technical implementation – it was a fundamental change in our business journey. We had to ensure everything was planned appropriately and effectively rolled out to our workforce of 32,000.”

B&Q has been replenishing stock across its 357 stores for over 10 years with material requirements planning software from SAP. An increased level of manual processes and a need for improved forecasting capability were the key driving forces behind B&Q’s choice to upgrade its system.
