FTD to be Acquired by United Online
Downers Grove, Ill. Floral retailer FTD announced Monday that its stockholders approved a merger with United Online, which will make FTD a wholly owned subsidiary of United Online. The merger is expected to close on Tuesday.
United Online, which provides consumer Internet and media services, owns a number of brands including online social networking, “Classmates,” and online loyalty marketing, “MyPoints.” The company’s communications segment includes Internet service and e-mail providers, NetZero and Juno.
Ahold unveils new looks for Stop & Shop, Giant-Landover
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands Ahold has a introduced a new store look and logos for its Stop & Shop and Giant-Landover supermarkets. The introduction is part of a series of new initiatives designed to enhance the customer store experience.
In addition to the fresh new look and new logos, the companies are rolling out new prepared foods assortment, an expanded private label offering, updated store signage and decor, new shopping technology and customer websites.
“Today’s announcement is a further step in Ahold’s global strategy to create powerful local consumer brands,” said Ahold ceo John Rishton. “These new initiatives are an important part of the Value Improvement Program underway at Stop & Shop and Giant-Landover.”
Family Dollar names store ops vp
MATTHEWS, N.C. Family Dollar Stores has announced that it has named Lonnie McCaffety to the position of vp of store operations. McCaffety will report to Barry Sullivan, evp of store operations.
Since joining Family Dollar in 1990 as an assistant store manager, McCaffety has held various management positions with the company. In his 18-year career with Family Dollar, McCaffety has assumed roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as regional vp for the New Orleans area.
