Giftango and Burger King partner on digital gift card program
Portland, Ore. — Digital gift card provider Giftango Corp. announced Monday a partnership with Burger King Worldwide to launch the BK digital gift card program, which will allow customers to redeem BK Crown Cards from web-enabled mobile devices, including iOS 6 and Android phones, at participating U.S. Burger King restaurants.
The digital gift cards – called BK eGifts – will be made available through a variety of channels including BK.com and will also be delivered through email, SMS text or Facebook wall posts.
Ikea gives former foster kids a head start
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Ikea helped out young people transition out of foster care by donating 110 bags filled with Ikea products.
The Ikea "starter kits" included sheets, a comforter, pots and pans, towels and other in-home necessities.
"To be able to help young people establish a comfortable and welcoming home for themselves is a great fit with our vision and our business idea. Ikea is happy to be able to support these young adults and we hope it makes a difference in their lives," said Martin Grieder, distribution anager of the IKea Tejon Ranch Distribution Center. "At Ikea, we believe in helping to create a better everyday life for the many people."
Walmart Supercenter opens after eight years in the making
Baltimore, Md. — New York City-based Brixmor Property Group said Walmart Supercenter at Liberty Plaza, in Randallstown (Baltimore), Md., grand-opened on Oct. 17 in 160,908 sq. ft.
Brixmor said that discussions with Walmart for the development of this supercenter began as early as 2004, as redevelopment efforts paved the way for the retailer.
Brixmor invested over $16 million in developing the Walmart building and upgraded the entire physical plant of the property including adding a new façade, lighting, landscaping and signage. The Walmart Supercenter includes full-line groceries, a drive-through pharmacy with two lanes, a vision center and a hair salon.
