GoldMax targets 100 stores in Southern California by yearend
Playa Vista, Calif. — GoldMax USA, which specializes in buying gold and precious metals from consumers in the United States, announced it has surpassed the 20th store milestone in Southern California with the opening of two more Los Angeles County stores. According to GoldMax co-founders Scott Garber and Jordan Sadoff, the company wants to have 100 stores in Southern California by end of 2012.
GoldMax is celebrating the opening of its 21st store on Oct. 15, in Lakewood, and its 22nd store on Oct. 22, in Torrance. GoldMax also plans to open stores in Norwalk, Santa Ana, Oceanside, Vista and Apple Valley in the next 30 to 45 days.
GoldMax, which has nearly 200 U.S. stores, has retained Present Value Properties of Tustin, Calif., as its exclusive real estate broker for California.
Bon-Ton Stores opens two stores
York, Pa. — The Bon-Ton Stores will celebrate the opening of its new Carson’s location on Nov. 9 at the Markland Mall in Kokomo, Ind. The store was previously located at the Kokomo Mall.
Also on Nov. 9, the retailer will open a Herberger’s store at the Southdale Center in Edina, Minn., its sixth store in the Minneapolis market.
The new, one-level 60,000 –sq.-ft. Carson’s store and 135,000-sq.-ft. Herberger’s have been designed to create a state-of-the-art shopping experience. It features a shopper-friendly environment with an open-floor plan, updated lighting with newest energy-saving technology, shopping carts and spacious fitting rooms, wide aisles and customer seating areas. Two self-serve kiosks will be located in the store with complete web access to the retailer’s Web sites customers to browse or shop online with complimentary standard shipping.
The Bon-Ton Stores operates 275 stores, including 11 furniture galleries, in 23 states in the Northeast, Midwest and upper Great Plains under the Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Elder-Beerman, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers nameplates and, in the Detroit area, under the Parisian nameplate.
Dick’s Sporting Goods announces store openings
Pittsburgh — Dick’s Sporting Goods will open a store in Conway, Ark., on Oct. 19. It will be the retailer’s second store in the state of Arkansas.
On Oct. 20, Dick’s will open a store in Hattiesburg, Miss. It will be the retailer’s fifth location in the state of Mississippi and its 469th nationwide.
