Gymboree names former Gap exec as CEO

San Francisco — Gymboree Corp. announced Tuesday that it has appointed Mark Breitbard as CEO, effective Jan. 14. Breitbard joins Gymboree from Gap Inc., where he was president of Gap North America.

He also has served as EVP of GapKids and babyGap.

Breitbard succeeds interim CEO Kip M. Garcia, who will resume his former duties as president. Garcia stepped in when former CEO Matthew McCauley resigned last September.

Interim COO Yvonne Hao will return to her role as an operating partner at Bain Capital.

Former Best Buy CMO moves over to LivingSocial

Washington, D.C. — Online marketplace LivingSocial said Tuesday that former Best Buy EVP and CMO Barry Judge has been appointed its new chief marketing officer.

Judge is charged with extending LivingSocial’s leadership in the local commerce space by overseeing online and offline advertising, brand management, social media and communications.

Judge first joined Best Buy in 1999 to help the company launch Bestbuy.com.

Walgreens opens health center at BMW Manufacturing’s U.S. site

Deerfield, Ill. — Walgreens and BMW Manufacturing on Tuesday celebrated the grand opening of a comprehensive worksite health center on the BMW campus in Spartanburg, S.C.

The 25,000-sq. ft. facility, managed by Walgreens Employer Solutions Group, will provide BMW associates, dependents and eligible retirees a wide range of health services, including primary and occupational care.

“Walgreens has increasingly shown how investing in worksite health programs can be instrumental in helping to reduce costs for employers, while improving the overall health and productivity of their workforce,” stated Peter Hotz, Walgreens group VP.

It is great to see that employers are taking more and more care of their employees through better healthcare administration measures. Indeed, this is the best way to increase productivity, thus the company being the one who gains in the end. I've always admired German people's style of dealing with employees.
